The UWPC partakes in a partnership to provide free tax services to working poor and low-income families. The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program aims to reach Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) filers. Last year, we were able to save 1,300 tax filers the $210 average it costs to file their taxes. The VITA program brought back more than $4 million to Pinal County residents’ pockets. This allowed for our hardworking low-income families to pay off a debt, buy groceries, school supplies and clothes to support their families.
We are expanding the program this year and are looking for valued volunteers to help
from January to April to meet with clients and prepare/review tax returns. You don’t have to be a tax whiz! We will help prepare you. Click here
to view a flyer that explains more about the VITA program as well as some of the various ways to volunteer. You can learn more and register to be a volunteer by going to www.unitedwayofpc.org/VITA
Please pass this information along to anyone that you think may be interested in volunteering. We are partnering with Central Arizona College and will be hosting the program at their campuses throughout the county. Can’t make it to a campus to volunteer? No problem! You can help from home too.
