The City of Casa Grande is pleased to invite the public to the official groundbreaking ceremony for the Community Recreation Center on Monday, February 12 from 10:00 am to 11:30 am. Located at 1900 N. Peart Road, between Kortsen Road and Cottonwood Lane, the Community Recreation Center will be a multipurpose facility offering amenities such as a fitness center, classrooms, gym, track, and special event venue. Exact programming details and membership costs will be announced at a later date once finalized by staff.
Following a thorough review of site plans, design renderings and construction drawings, the Mayor and City Council unanimously approved a $16 million contract with Haydon Building Corporation in December 2017 for the construction of the center, a project that was initially approved by voters in a bond election in 2006. Work to be performed includes construction of the 50,000 square foot facility, furnishings, and site and utility improvements. After breaking ground on February 12, the construction of the facility is expected to take 12-14 months with the facility being completed in March 2019.
“We are incredibly excited to officially break ground and be one step closer to opening the doors of this state of the art facility,” said Community Services Director, Steve Hardesty. “Once completed, our team looks forward to seeing residents of all ages and interests take advantage of the quality recreation programming that it will provide.”
