Do you know an outstanding social studies teacher serving grades K-12 who deserves recognition for their commitment to teaching American history (including state and local history) and their use of creativity and imagination in the classroom? If so, the Arizona Department of Education (ADE) would like to invite you to submit a nomination for the History Teacher of the Year Award, which is designed to recognize outstanding American history teachers across the country.
State winners receive a $1,000 prize and an archive of classroom resources, and the National Winner receives a $10,000 prize presented at an award ceremony in their honor in New York City.
All K-12 social studies teachers can be nominated to be considered for the 2017 award. The deadline for 2017 nominations is Friday, March 31, 2017. Please note that self-nominations are not accepted as part of this process.
For more information on award eligibility, please visit the Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History website or contact ADE’s program coordinator, Alexis Susdorf, at (602) 542-3309 or alexis.susdorf@azed.gov.
Thank you for your collaboration as we work to recognize Arizona’s top educators.
Sincerely,
Alexis Susdorf
