The Casa Grande City Council in August passed a resolution in support of the Homelessness Strategic Plan and Goals developed by the Mayor’s Task Force on Homelessness.
“After several meetings with our task force members, it became clear that the dynamics surrounding homelessness are complex, impacting families with children, the mentally ill, victims of domestic violence, veterans, and more,” said Casa Grande Mayor Craig McFarland. “While homelessness is not just a local problem, our community leaders have demonstrated a strong commitment to developing solutions and taking action to reduce homelessness in our region. This is truly a community effort.”
The product of these efforts has been the creation of a strategic plan document, outlining a myriad of goals and objectives to be executed by an existing community group, the Casa Grande Homeless Coalition. The goals contained within the strategic plan include affordable housing, temporary shelters and transitional housing, support services and education, public safety, targeted populations, and community engagement, as well as the creation of a Resource Center to be housed at the Peart Center.
